What Is Branding And Why Is It Important?
Updated: Sep 17
In the minds of consumers, branding establishes a meaning for an organization, company, product, or service. Not only does branding leave a lasting impression on consumers, it also lets your clients and customers know what to expect from your business. It is a way of distinguishing yourself from the competitors and clarifying what it is you offer that makes you the better choice. Branding is absolutely critical to a business because of the overall impact it makes on your company. Branding can change how people perceive your brand, it can drive new business, and increase brand value – but it can also do the opposite if done wrongly or not at all.
So how do you establish a brand?
You'll need a clear brand identity, and supporting assets. Brand identity can be described as your brand's personality, and the features of your brand identity make up your brand. But what sort of things can be included in a brand's identity? Depending on the nature of the company, a huge variety of assets could be required however at their core, brands are most often comprised of a name, logo and supporting logos/ submarks, a tagline, a colour scheme, a design style and typography.
As mentioned however, there are so many more assets that could be required to properly establish a company. These range from printed matter like business cards, service lists, posters, leaflets, brochures and more, to other digital assets like a website, a social media template, photography and videography.
